Clubhouses
are a gathering place for consumers to develop relationships through shared
activities. They provide a wide array of services that help people living
with a psychiatric disability build satisfying lives in spite of the effects
of mental illness. Clubhouses give members an opportunity to belong to
a community that cares about the success of each individual involved.

Mariposa
Clubhouse
(last updated
7/20/02)
The Mariposa Clubhouse is
a client-run social and vocational development program which provides
a safe, comfortable, and inviting environment where mental health clients
can come together and plan social and recreational activities, participate
in support groups, meet others on planned outings, attend dances, or have
a low-cost meal from our cafe.
We offer educational programs
that include computer skills training, guest speakers, and an active job
support group. We will be utilizing the WorkNet materials to assist people
in becoming employed in a job of their choice, in a field of interest
to them in the near future. In addition, there are opportunities for members
to learn new vocational skills by participating in the many activities
involved in the running the clubhouse.
Although we are not a treatment
center, we offer many services and activities that can complement treatment
a person is receiving through peer supports. Our regular weekly schedule
typically includes discussion groups, as well as a bilingual Dual Diagnosis
group, which offers support to persons who are diagnosed with both a mental
illness and a substance abuse problem. We offer a constantly evolving
array of special interest classes such as creative writing, art class,
movement awareness, crafts, health walks, and numerous special events,
which often accent the diverse cultures of our community.
We are open Monday - Friday
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Becoming a member is easy!
All mental health clients in the Oceanside area and surrounding communities
are welcome to stop by for a visit. You are welcome to join our growing
membership.
